Ecologia Environment is working in conjunction with the University of Western Australia’s Dr Barbara York Main to identify the geographical distribution of Aname spiders near Geraldton.  Previous ecologia surveys identified the presence of two species of Aname which are at risk of impact by developments north of Geraldton.

As a result of Dr Main’s assistance, one species (Aname ‘MYG204’) previously identified was mapped in areas unaffected by nearby developments.  Dr Main’s research has been based on mygalomorph (trap door) spiders, particularly the genus Aname.  Having the assistance of such specialists as Dr Main is invaluable to furthering the research of these little understood groups.
