The Tropicana Gold Project (TGP), located 330 km east-north-east of Kalgoorlie in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia, is a Joint Venture between AngloGold Ashanti Australia and Independence Group NL. Current tenements which are part of the TGP stretch across the Great Victoria Desert in areas where there has historically been no extensive exploration for gold.
An open cut gold mine, process facilities, materials handling facilities, utilities and other general infrastructure facilities have been approved by the Western Australian Environmental Protection Authority, who set the level of assessment at “Public Environmental Review” under the Environmental Protection Act 1986. The report and recommendations of the EPA were released on the 19th of July 2010 for Ministerial comment, after a public submissions period and subsequent review of the Public Environmental Review document.
ecologia was involved during the initial stages of Project development, assisting Anglogold Ashanti with fauna, flora and vegetation surveys and environmental impact assessments.
