ecologia hosts a training course for the Ecuador Government

July 4, 2012

A group of experts from the Ministry of Environment in Ecuador are currently in Western Australia to undertake a training course in responsible mining and environmental management, hosted by ecologia.

This course has been established through an agreement between the Ministry of Environment from Ecuador and ecologia Environment. The training involves presentations, forum discussions and workshops with interactive case studies in mining, and includes a practical site visit to an environmental sensitive area in the Midwest region of Western Australia. The course is designed to address issues of prevention and environmental control in large scale mining projects, covering both theoretical and practical examples in environmental management and impact assessment. ecologia has engaged recognised professionals in the subject as well as representatives from the Office of the Environmental Protection Authority (WA), Conservation Council of Western Australia (CCWA) and Curtin University (WA).

ecologia is confident in contributing valuable knowledge and practical expertise on the procedures for assessing and managing environmental impact for mining projects. ecologia will continue to assist the Government of Ecuador with the implementation of environmental impact assessment procedures and guidelines, which will be crucial for the Environmental Minister in making decisions about mining activities in Ecuador.
