Vertebrate Fauna

Vertebrate Fauna

Western Australia’s fauna is diverse and new species are being discovered each year. While many enjoy healthy population rates, some have declined significantly in the face of human activity in their habitats, and over 100 are legally protected to ensure their survival.

We have extensive experience in designing and executing fauna surveys. Our risk-based approach and range of methods allows us to comprehensively survey each vertebrate fauna group and we can cater to projects of any type, including;

  • Multi-season baseline surveys spanning several bioregions;
  • Desktop and reconnaissance surveys;
  • Targeted rare or threatened fauna surveys;
  • Rare fauna relocation and monitoring programmes; and
  • Environmental impacts assessments.

Our team can design and implement fauna surveys tailored to your project which are compliant with Environmental Protection Authority requirements. With us, you can be assured that issues of risk to your project are identified upfront and resolved.

Animal Ethics

Ecologia has developed scientifically responsible and sensitive guidelines for the capture and handling of fauna, and we review and adhere to them according to the species involved before every survey.

The result is minimum levels of stress to animals affected by your project and ensuring their best possible post-project wellbeing, whether it’s ecosystem rehabilitation or reintroduction into the wild.
