Anglo American Exploration (Australia) Pty Ltd is a base metal exploration company for Anglo American PLC’s Exploration Division, and the Perth, Australia office is the hub for the entire Africa-Asia-Pacific region.

Anglo American’s projects include exploration in Australia, China, The Philippines, India, The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Indonesia and Africa. In 2003 they selected ecologia to facilitate their ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 accreditation for the Australian projects.

The company also engaged us as one of the global Anglo America Exploration certification group advisors, and over an eighteen month period, we provided management system design advice, developed documentation and assisted with employee training and system implementation.

Due to limited resources at Anglo, we placed a full time advisor in Anglo American to coordinate staff input and develop the system. We also provided on-site training at exploration projects in Western Australia, Northern Territory, and Queensland. We designed the system to suit Anglo’s situation of:

• Working with multiple large and small contracting companies.
• Working in remote locations all around the country.
• Having limited human resources for system maintenance.
• Having to conform with corporate system standards and procedures.

The company achieved certification in December 2004 and was successfully recertified in 2007. ecologia continues to provide advice and services on an as needs basis to the company.
