Oil Basins Limited

Oil Basins EMPOil Basins Limited was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on 23 August 2006 and is involved in exploration for oil and gas initially in the offshore Gippsland Basin waters of south‐eastern Australia and the onshore Canning Basin of Western Australia. Since listing, the Company has increased its leverage across all of its assets and has increased its exposure to attractive and prospective areas with the Canning Basin and offshore Carnarvon Basin in Western Australia.

To carry out petroleum activities that occur under state jurisdiction, proponents are required to have an Environmental Management Plan (EMP). This EMP addresses potential environmental impacts and management actions relevant to the activities associated with aspects of Oil Basins Limited's (OBL) proposed Exploration programme at site Backreef‐1.

The document addresses the management procedures required prior to, during, and after exploration activities but does not relate to petroleum activities.

The environmental objectives of OBL were to:

  • Address all environmental issues identified in the environmental risk assessment, Section 4.
  • Define management processes to reduce environmental risks.
  • Detail procedures, practices and documentation to mitigate or manage potential impacts to
environmental values arising from drilling activities.
  • Obtain approval for drilling from the DMP.
